With virtual printer drivers from ThinPrint, printers without 64-bit printer drivers can still be used with Windows Server 2008 R2 Denver (December 8, 2009) - ThinPrint, the leading provider of print solutions for Citrix XenApp, Citrix XenDesktop, MS Remote Desktop Services (Microsoft Terminal Services), Vmware View, additional VDI environments, and other distributed networks, offers virtual printer drivers that make it possible to continue using printers with 32-bit printer drivers in 64-bit environments. Expanding the solutions are ThinPrint Output Gateway and V-Layer, which are integrated into the .print product family as core technologies. Keep using printers with 32-bit printer drivers in 64-bit environments - with ThinPrint virtual printer drivers! Since the release of Windows Server 2008 R2, progress can no longer be held back: 64-bit has found its way into companies and corporations. However, this presents a dilemma. Many printers do not have a 64-bit driver available and the printer manufacturers are not planning to develop one. Customers who wants to save money on new hardware investment can use two virtual printer drivers from ThinPrint: the ThinPrint Output Gateway (DRIVER FREE PRINTING) and the ThinPrint V-Layer. Both solutions are core technologies of the ThinPrint .print product family. One possibility is to install the virtual printer driver ThinPrint Output Gateway on the server and the original 32-bit printer driver on a 32-bit desktop. This desktop then takes over the procession of the print job and its transmittal to the printer. As an alternative, it is also possible to use a thin client with embedded XP on which the 32-bit printer driver is installed. If all printer drivers are to be managed on a central print server – a highly efficient way to simplify system administration – the ThinPrint V-Layer ensures that even printers with 32-bit drivers can continue to be used. The V-Layer and the manufacturer’s 32-bit printer driver are installed on a 32-bit print server. Print jobs are then automatically processed with the correct printer driver. Printers with 32-bit drivers do not have to be replaced. "In large environments, costs can quickly add up to five figures when dozens of printers have to be replaced. Apart from that, it would be an irresponsible use of resources if printers were discarded just because of missing drivers," said Charlotte Künzell, Senior Vice President of ThinPrint. "This clearly demonstrates once again that print optimization solutions decisively contribute to lowering costs." Free demo versions for Citrix printing, SBC printing, RDP printing, Terminal Services printing and VDI printing are available at the manufacturer’s website: www.thinprint.com/demo. |
