Phoenix, AZ, April 6, 2010 – The Open Design Alliance (ODA) announces the cancellation of the ODA World Conference in Orlando, Florida (USA), May 4 – 5, 2010.

The World Conference is primarily designed for ODA members to come together from across the globe to exchange ideas, innovations, and advancements in CAD and technical graphics technology.  However, initial feedback from ODA members cited the tightening of corporate budgets, especially for travel and conferences, as a major reason for not being able to attend this year’s conference.

The ODA is making alternate arrangements with members who had previously decided to attend this year.

Arnold van der Weide, ODA President, stated, “Not enough members were able to attend this year in order to make the conference a success.  It was a difficult decision to cancel the conference, especially after the successful first conference that was held last year in Leiden, The Netherlands.  We understand that members’ interest in the conference did not outweigh the expense during this time when many member companies are just starting to come out of the economic downturn.  We are a member-oriented organization and the cancellation is in response to what our members were telling us.  That said, I fully anticipate meeting again on a large scale in the future.”
