Combines Mobile Deployment, 3D Building Measurement and Object Modelling into a Single Solution Using the ARES Core Engine for AutoCAD Compatibility
November 30, 2010 - BERLIN - Graebert™ GmbH, the developer of the acclaimed ARES™ cross-platform CAD solution and the co-developer of DraftSight™ (the Dassault Systemes SolidWorks™ 2D drafting package) today announced a major upgrade of SiteMaster™, the company's site surveying and measurement software. This completely re-written version of SiteMaster offers intelligent surveying coupled with a BIM interface that is optimized to provide a seamless CAD workflow and design experience. SiteMaster Version 6 includes automated 3D walls, parametric objects, 3D zone volumes and smart dimensioning for positioning and representing complex architectural features. SiteMaster allows customers to use Bluetooth®-connected laser distance meters and a portable PC (notebooks, or tablets using Microsoft® Windows Version 7®) to quickly create intelligent 2D plans and 3D models. Using SiteMaster, a single person can handle the entire survey process, even of very large buildings, structures, and construction sites. SiteMaster technology allows for easy CAD drawing creation in the field, reducing back-office rework of surveys to a minimum while also maximizing productivity and results. Based on ARES Commander Edition, the new CAD engine from Graebert introduced in 2010, SiteMaster Version 6 allows CAD drawings to be directly produced and output in the industry standard DWG format. Using the ARES core engine, SiteMaster Version 6 sets a new standard for mobile surveying speed, accuracy, and completeness. Previous SiteMaster versions pioneered the concept of mobile, simultaneous measurement and "in-the-field" CAD creation for the survey and measurement user - a process Graebert defines as "intelligent surveying". Version 6 adds the new ability to create 3D models with complete graphical and non-graphical information. The BIM models created by SiteMaster Version 6 use Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) to output information to other programs in this market, such as Revit™ and Tekla™. IFC compatibility allows survey data and drawings to be seamlessly integrated into large architectural projects, facilities management, job-site surveys and energy assessment environments. Millions of square meters have been surveyed with Graebert SiteMaster software, including Deutsche Telekom®, McDonald's®, numerous facilities owned by the Catholic Church, Public Sector buildings in the United Kingdom and Germany, as well as Bank of America® properties in the USA. Graebert also offers an Energy Efficiency Certification module for its intelligent surveying software, beginning with the standards for the United Kingdom. It not only allows the user to collect relevant data (such as construction types and building services) when surveying buildings, but also to create 3D zone models of uniformly conditioned building areas. This comprehensive dataset is then used to calculate building ratings and generate Energy Performance Certificates. SiteMaster 6 is currently in Beta testing and is expected to be generally available at the beginning of 2011 - the company is actively seeking Beta testers for the product. Current clients, along with interested surveyors, architects and facility managers may easily participate in a three-month validation of the new software. "SiteMaster has been the gold standard for decades of intelligent surveying and has been instrumental in measuring sites worldwide by some of the largest surveying firms," said Wilfried Graebert, founder and CEO of Graebert GmbH. "The inclusion of BIM concepts and our ARES 2D/3D CAD engine into the latest version of SiteMaster brings major new functionality, performance and workflow capabilities to an already exceptional product."
