Understanding how to accelerate FEA analysis and not compromise on accuracy of results requires expertise in code, memory and algorithm efficiencies.  This sessi on covered many advancements in simulation highlighting composite and nonlinear analyses as well as analysis optimization.  These advancements enable engineers to meet business objectives which center on the three pillars of product design optimization: mitigating field failure risk, optimizing product cost, and accelerating time-to-market.

Engineers can now cut analysis time in many ways.  Allan Hsu, Nei Software Application Engineer, lead this first session demonstrating how innovative features can accelerate engineering product design decisions and analyses.  Using the example of an electronics assembly, participants were able to see how quickly an engineer can obtain accurate fatigue damage and life analysis results.

Participants also viewed examples of micromechanics based composite analysis.  "Micromechanics based composite analysis in this new release is the biggest game changer in the field.  What we are really after is overcoming some of the limitations in accuracy of smeared lamina approaches," said Allan Hsu.  Nei Nastran's composite feature allows engineers to not only evaluate individual plies, but also the individual constituents - fibers and epoxy matrices.  Hsu also presented specialized nonlinear material models for Nitinol and Concrete for biomedical and civil applications.

Those interested in learning more about advancements in composites analysis can join the July 20th webinar while those interested in advancements in nonlinear analysis can join Nei Software on September 21st.  Optimizing analyses is the subject of the final session which uses the Nei Editor in some of the demonstrations.  Those new to the Nei Editor may also wish to read Kenneth Wong's Virtual Desktop's recent posting about the Nei Editor "Looking Under the Hood of FEA Results with the Nei Editor".

A repla y of the first session in this four part series is now available.  The accompanying Aberdeen white paper, "Cost Saving Strategies for Engineering: Using Simulation to Make Better Decisions", sponsored by Nei Software, Siemens, Knovel and Ansys is also available to on-demand webinar registrants.
