New version now available in 16 languages

Munich, 14.  December 2007 – From January 2008 onwards Nemetschek’s new software version Allplan BIM 2008 will be available in 14 further languages.  In October Nemetschek released Allplan BIM 2008 Architecture and Engineering in German and English.  The new versions also consider country-specific standards for construction.  Allplan BIM 2008 supports the process of Building Information Modeling (BIM).  Architects and engineers are free to decide which working method they want to use, without having to switch between different applications.  A simple virtual building model increases value for users, while improved interoperability shortens coordination and approval processes.

Allplan BIM 2008 Architecture

The easy creation of virtual building models is the basis for a highly-integrated overall process called Building Information Modeling (BIM).  Similar to the topological structure of a building with story’s and floors, construction projects can be structured on a practice-oriented basis in Allplan BIM 2008 using the new building structure.  Sections, views and lists are easily created, avoiding time-consuming, manual creation.  Together with the new storey manager, the user can design large projects and even entire real estate projects in 3D design.

Efficient Building Information Modeling is not possible if you cannot determine quantities and costs precisely and in compliance with building regulations.  Nemetschek has therefore further expanded its cost planning method Design2Cost.  It provides architects and designers with sound features including a quantity structure for cost calculation and invitations to tender.

Allplan BIM 2008 Engineering

Allplan BIM 2008 Engineering offers a complete range of CAD functions – from traditional working in 2D, to a hybrid way of working with 2D formwork and 3D reinforcement to formwork and reinforcement planning in 3D.  Full use is made of the potential of Round-Trip Engineering, which embodies a smooth interaction between CAD and CAE, eliminating the need for time-consuming and error-prone multiple entries.  In the first stage of the process the complete model is transferred from the CAD system Allplan into SCIA.ESA PT while retaining its intelligence.  SCIA.ESA PT is the structural engineering software package produced by the Belgian subsidiary SCIA.  The laborious and often inconvenient task of re-entering the geometry into the CAE software is now consigned to the past.  The structural system is then automatically derived from the model of the load-bearing structure in the second stage.  Structural engineers simply have to check whether the automatically generated proposal matches their expectations or whether further changes are needed.

Data transfer across the entire process chain

To speed up coordination between architects and engineers, Nemetschek’s new version has greatly simplified the process of exchanging data.  Allplan BIM 2008 supports traditional formats for exchanging data alongside two formats destined to shape the future of the construction industry: PDF and IFC.  With AdobePDF, not only can users import and export planning documents with layers, they can even exchange complete 3D models.  Nemetschek has integrated the original Adobe libraries into the new version for this very purpose.  Architects and engineers can now provide their planning partners, site managers and clients with a building model or a complex detail in an easy-to view form and coordinate work with them accordingly.

More efficient data transfer via IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is also possible with Allplan BIM 2008.  Planning partners can exchange model data via a certified 2x3 IFC interface in a standardized format – this includes architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, design professionals for business services, as well as facility and real estate managers.  This does away with the need for multiple entries and improves data quality.
